The $200, $150 and $100 prizes again will go to our Lions Clubs International Foundation to be credited to each club’s Melvin Jones Fellow fund! Here’s your chance to increase your club’s health and Club Melvin fund to honor a Lion or community member deserving of recognition.

We are excited to welcome our newest member, Lion Evelyn, who was officially inducted by Lion Joe Mendiola into our club at our last meeting. Her sponsor is Lion PCC Dutch.

We continue our caring partnership with the Children’s Hope Foundation (CHF) this year. They hosted an event that honors all sponsors of the Children’s Hope Foundation. This is a way that CHF brought together its sponsors in order to thank them and show them what the donations support.

Sunrise Lions Club Annual Pickleball Tournament was held on September 12th with over 60 participants entered we were able to raise over $2000 for NMKidsSight.

Deadline to register before the fee goes up $10 is November 5th.

Our 3rd Annual Statewide Lions FOOD DRIVE was a success!!! Participating clubs raised nearly $5000 to help their local food pantries and charitable organizations and we collected...drum roll... 10,576.26 pounds of food, a new record for food donations!!! Great work D40 Lions! We are making a difference in fighting hunger in our very hungry state. ROAR!

On Saturday, September 26th, the Edgewood Lions led an Edgewood Community Park Playground Cleanup as part of a cooperative effort between the Town of Edgewood and the Moriarty-Edgewood School District. 14 volunteers including Lions, town employees, and other community members worked to clear the playground of goat heads and other weeds. This is one of the Edgewood Lion's combination of Environment and Youth Global Causes.

Ironman 70.3 came to Ruidoso in July! Team Leader Lion Paula Locke, husband David Locke & her daughter Lion Beth dedicated so many hours to ensure that Ironman 70.3 Ruidoso went well! They volunteered for multiple shifts over throughout the week for this monumentous event. We were all overjoyed to volunteer for this event. Ironman brought so much life and excitement to our village. The athletes were so kind and courteous. They loved the challenge that Ruidoso presented.

The Carlsbad Community Lions Club participated in the state annual food drive for its second year in a row. Close to 160 pounds of food was collected by the club and donated to our local packs for hunger organization, which provides weekend meals for school children in need every week! Thank you, club members, Linda and Bob, for spearheading this year's efforts, and KR Scott for organizing this state-wide event!

District Governor Joel and members of different clubs attended an Isotopes Baseball Game. It was some much needed rest and relaxation the night before the Cabinet Meeting on August 8th. It's always nice to go visit.

2026 Diabetes Awareness Health Fair

Sunrise Lions, Las Cruces, are sponsoring two upcoming events. On September 12 our third annual Pickleball Tournament. We already have 40 players signed up. On October 24 we are hosting a Cornhole Tournament at the Icebox on West Picacho from 11:30 to 4 pm. We have challenged all the Lions Clubs in Las Cruces for a "tournament in a tournament " challenge. Will be open to the public and have cash prizes for winners. You can register at the event. Come join us.

The Espanola "Back to School" event in June brought several cheerful volunteers together. Santa Fe Capital City Líons had participated for several years with the Espanola Club , but this year, additional screening services and educational material were provided by the New Mexico Lions Diabetes Awareness Program in the Blue Cross Blue Shield Van with help from Santa Fe Prep Leo Sameera! Free glasses applications and instructions with frame selections were also available

D40 Convention 2027

The Clovis Evening Lions enjoys helping the Draggin' Main Event by making sure the Participants are the only vehicles that enter the event on Main Street. It may be work keeping everything in order, but it's a lot of fun working with fellow Lions. ROAR!!! This is a huge event for Clovis New Mexico. Draggin' Main is a week long event that lets people bring their vehicles to show them off and meet people that have come from other cities and states.

Lion Sam Pirelli and Lion Bill McCommack of the Ruidoso Evening Lions have been doing some travel voluntourism. They attended the 63rd annual High Rolls/Mountain Park - Summer Cherry Festival. They have also attended several of the Alamogordo Evening Lions Gun shows to give them a helping hand as well.

The Ruidoso Evening Lions Club held its Memorial Day and Independence Day Gun Shows. We host a Kids' Scavenger Hunt at each gun show. When children find all of the hidden Lions and have their card stamped by each participating vendor, they are entered for a chance to win a Daisy BB gun and BBs. Tuesday, June 9, we had a celebration! In honor of Lions International's 109th birthday, we celebrated the legacy of Lion Roy Dow of Carrizozo, New Mexico. Lion Roy was a dedicated Lion and business owner in Carrizozo for many years. His niece, Connie, presented us with Roy's Lions vest.
