Being “Rooted in Service” is about more than just the service others see us do. It’s about who we are at our foundation. Our roots in service are strong, and they run deep.

The board met earlier this week, and I am pleased to announce that the Lions Clubs International Board of Directors recommends Past International Director Vijay Kumar Raju from Multiple District 316 (India) as international third vice president for election at the 2027 Lions International Convention in Washington D.C., USA.

New officers were installed July 1 at the Sandia Mountain Lions Club picnic meeting held at the mountain home of Lions Wes and Rena Harris. Installing officer was 2ndVDG K.R. Scott. Service is the foundation of our organization. It’s at the very root of what we do and who we are as Lions. Meaningful service fuels growth, increases our impact and strengthens our communities and our world. It’s why people join us — and why they stay. That’s why my presidential theme this year is “Rooted in Service.” I encourage all of us to reconnect with our Lion roots and focus on what matters most. Get creative with your service. Have fun.

The club is ready to do more for 2026-2027!

This year, Lions and Leos around the world have made a meaningful difference. Through your leadership and service, compassion and kindness, needs have been met, lives have been touched and communities strengthened. As the Lion year comes to a close, that impact continues. MISSION 1.5 reminds us there is more to do, and by growing our membership, we expand our service and extend our reach into the future.

And just like that the year has flown by. It has been a great honor and privilege to serve this wonderful District. The opportunity to travel all over the State and meet wonderful Lions & LEO’s in their own areas, doing great acts of service has been the highlight of this great journey. This Lions year is about to be over and it has been a year of many changes, both in D40 and at International, we are all striving to operate in this new digital world. Yup, be sure we are all struggling with technology, however it is not going away so our best option is to learn as best we can. Trying to avoid it and wish for the older ways is not helping anybody.

Clovis Evening Lions are always ready to help our kids. We presented a check to Justin (the Boy Scouts Leader) to help the kids go to camp. It always feels good to know that a child will further their future by the things they will learn along the way.

A conversation exploring how movement, music, energy and celebration can transform meetings, conventions and service into engaging experiences, boosting member connection, retention and the overall joy of being a Lion.

Tell-A-Thon is a global storytelling event where Lions, Leos, families, friends and neighbors come together to hear real stories about why service matters. It’s also an LCIF fundraiser that helps fund even more service in communities around the world.

What a weekend! Thank you to everyone who joined us in Carlsbad for the 98th Annual NM/AZ Lions State Convention. From the fellowship to the service, it was a resounding success! 🦁 It was a privilege to host such a dedicated group, and it’s fair to say a wonderful time was had by all!
