Fall Into Giving with LCIF

We continue our caring partnership with the Children’s Hope Foundation (CHF) this year. They hosted an event that honors all sponsors of the Children’s Hope Foundation. This is a way that CHF brought together its sponsors in order to thank them and show them what the donations support.

Sandia Mountain Lions Club News

Kindness is at the core of our humanitarian mission. With support from LCIF, Lions and Leos can turn compassion into action and reach more people in moments of need. At the August 2026 LCIF Board of Trustees Meeting, 114 grants totaling more than US$13.6 million were approved to strengthen service worldwide.

Sunrise Lions Club Annual Pickleball Tournament was held on September 12th with over 60 participants entered we were able to raise over $2000 for NMKidsSight.

Our 3rd Annual Statewide Lions FOOD DRIVE was a success!!! Participating clubs raised nearly $5000 to help their local food pantries and charitable organizations and we collected...drum roll... 10,576.26 pounds of food, a new record for food donations!!! Great work D40 Lions! We are making a difference in fighting hunger in our very hungry state. ROAR!

The Eye-screening team of Los Leones de Mesilla have completed their Elementary children screenings!! We were blessed to have Las Cruces High School students from the HOSA program and students from the Burrell Health Sciences Attend and participate in this event. They grasped quickly to the procedures and were soon taking over the camera and completing all documentation! The Edgewood Lions Club participated in the annual Lions Food Drive on September 12th. Volunteers from Scouts Troop 640 and the East Mountain Food Pantry joined with our club to collect 972 pounds of food and $567 in cash donations. Even in this time of high prices, Edgewoodians came out in force. A special surprise was when the Edgewood DeMolay chapter came by and dropped off 3 shopping carts full of food. ROAR!

Don’t Forget The Students Who See The World Differently

The Albuquerque Northeast Lions Club gathered at Lion’s Annie’s Den for a delicious lasagna dinner, fellowship, and service in action—sorting 1,234 pairs of eyeglasses. Through laughter, teamwork, and shared purpose, our members strengthen their commitment to making a local and global impact through service!

On September 1st Melissa Rice, the Head Band Director of Lovington’s Big Blue Band, was a guest of Lovington Lions Club. Lovington’s Big Blue Band has been invited to march in the Memorial Day Parade in Washington, DC on May 30th, 2027. Plans are being made to raise funds for members and sponsors of the band to attend. The cost will be $2,100 for each person to make the trip. Several fund raisers will be upcoming with participation of the band members.

Carlsbad Downtown Lions Club participated in the Second Annual Statewide Community Lions Food Drive. Lions Johnny, Melissa, Micky, Sally, Gemma, Roxann, Jerry, Gus, Dick, John, and cub Liam took shifts at La Tienda.

Dinner and presentation of $8,000.00 in Scholarships for 14 local Lincoln County & Otero County students & their families. District Governor Joel Edwards and his wife Lion Cristi Edwards joined us in the celebration. DG Lion Joel delivered an uplifting presentation.

One of the best things about being a Lion is our service. When we stay grounded in our service, we unlock our club’s full potential. And while service is the most important thing, it’s also important that we help every Lion unlock their potential. Offering an inclusive, welcoming club environment, leadership opportunities and opportunities for personal growth helps attract new members and keep all members engaged and enthusiastic.

Albuquerque Lions hosted a food drive for Roadrunner Food Bank of New Mexico on September 12, 2026, at the Walmart Neighborhood Market located at Juan Tabo & Montgomery in Albuquerque, NM. Fifteen Lion Club members reported at 8:30 am in the parking lot at Walmart to prepare for the food drive. We completed the food drive at 2 pm with the delivery of the donations to the Roadrunner Food Bank: Total pounds of food: 1,501 (approximately 1,274 meals) & monetary donations: $468.2

The Clovis Evening Lions received a phone call stating the Lighthouse Mission was in need of some toilet paper for the Freedom Ranch Men's program (7 boxes to be exact is what we decided to purchase, not all of the TP was shown in the picture). It seems like a crazy thing to donate, but if someone says we need help we are going to do our best to make it happen. The Lighthouse Mission helps many people that are down on their luck and helping them help others is what we do.

Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) transforms the generosity of Lions, Leos and our supporters into meaningful service and lasting change. Through grants, our global foundation provides resources that enable us to address important needs, expand successful projects and reach more people in communities around the world. LCIF also helps strengthen our association. When people see Lions improving lives through impactful service, they are inspired to get involved.

The Espanola "Back to School" event in June brought several cheerful volunteers together. Santa Fe Capital City Líons had participated for several years with the Espanola Club , but this year, additional screening services and educational material were provided by the New Mexico Lions Diabetes Awareness Program in the Blue Cross Blue Shield Van with help from Santa Fe Prep Leo Sameera! Free glasses applications and instructions with frame selections were also available
