Carlsbad Community Lions had a busy month engaging in 2 service projects. One was a continuous project that we are working on for the Rocky Arroyo Cemetery Improvement Project. This is a joint effort with the Southeast New Mexico Historical Society, Carlsbad Downtown Lions Club, and the Community Club. The Community Lions also participated in the state-wide food drive on the 13th and collected over $1,100 in donations and 750 food items for our local Packs for Hunger Program. This program provides backpacks on weekends for schoolchildren who need supplies to be fed outside of school.
In October, we are also taking part in the Mental Health and Wellbeing International Week of Service by hosting a free mindful yoga class at a local Brewery. Attendees will also receive a healthy breakfast and participate in a discussion and offer resources led by one of our members on the importance of mental health and wellbeing. If you are in the area for the event, we would love to have other Lions join us!
