NEW MEXICO LIONS DISTRICT 40

_________________________________________________________

WE SERVE NEW MEXICO, WINDOW ROCK and FORT DEFIANCE

Lions and Leo's of District 40,

What a great year it is turning out to be, we are already past 30 new members inducted with a new Club about to charter and a couple of Club Branches under way also. It's a great time to be a D40 Lion.

Thank you to all who participated in last month's Cabinet meeting, in person in Ruidoso and virtually via Zoom, it was a great turnout and a huge thank you to Ruidoso Evening Lion Club for organizing and hosting our meeting and service project.

A big Thank You to all those Clubs who participated in the Statewide Food Drive and especially Lion KR for all his efforts in organizing the drive, providing advertising materials to all Clubs and especially for securing our Proclamation from the State Governor.

Having now returned from USA/Canada Forum, where we had 4, D40 Lions graduate from Lions University, it is time to start planning Club visitations. Our primary focus will be on Clubs with less than 10 members and we have secured a Membership grant to help redevelop these areas. We have also applied for a Marketing grant (it will be discussed by International at the October Board meeting in India) and we are hopeful that it will be sanctioned. We have many underserved areas and peoples in our District that would benefit greatly from having a Lions Club active in their community.

Our Cabinet are constantly working to improve all aspect of Lionism in our District. We are also looking at ways to have more Lions interact at all levels. We encourage you all to continuously monitor the web page as this is where all new activity will be posted, also keep up with our Facebook pages and posts and be sure to take videos and pictures of all your service. Not only take the picture but SHARE the pies and videos. Share to our Marcom team who will gladly put it on the web page and on Facebook.

To all Club Officers, we ask that you continue to improve yourselves and utilize the classes available to you in the Learn portion of the Lions Portal. For help and guidance Lion Annie Miller is your GLT and always willing to help out in any way she can.

Our next Cabinet meeting is on November 15th and is part of our midwinter convention/forum. This event starts on Friday 14th with a tour of our Eye Bank and an event that evening in support of our Diabetes Awareness program, see flier on website and elsewhere in this Roar. This Cabinet meeting will follow same format as the last one; meet and greet, offsite service project, plated lunch, short business meeting with Zoom link, some informational sessions and maybe a class or two and then depart from location. We have secured a room rate at the Hilton Garden hotel of $119 per night (with breakfast) contact Lion Annie for further details.

Once again we would ask all Clubs to share your events and projects to our community calendar so all Lions can see what we are doing and some may wish to come and support or volunteer.

For all that each of you do to help others, my sincere thanks and gratitude.

Yours in Service,

Frankie Davis

Governor D40
