Lions and LEO’s of District 40

Another month goes by and our wonderful works continue, be it fundraising for our future givings or immediate service being done, Lions are out all over our District.

Thank you to all those Lions who were able to partake in the first International Mental Health and Wellness week of service and for all the imaginative projects that ye put together. It is great to see what new ideas everybody brought for this initiative.

We are conducting our next Cabinet meeting in a new fashion, Mid Winter Forum/Convention. All the details are on our website and registration forms are waiting to be filled in. Please register early so we can have a headcount for all the various parts to this new (to us) adventure.

Our International Director and partner in service have had a very successful first Board meeting in Kolkata, India. They also participated in numerous service projects while there. Follow their adventures on Facebook for some wonderful pictures and videos.

On the home front, our 1st and (interm) 2nd VDG,s travelled to Montana for their prescribed trainings and we are delighted that they could both make this very important milestone in their leadership journey.

Again we would ask all Clubs to post your upcoming projects on the District calendar so all Lions can see your events and may travel to help out if they are available.

We are working on having all Cabinet meeting minutes and Chairpersons reports posted on the website in a timely fashion after each meeting. This is all new to us and we are working through our issues as fast as we can. It is the objective of this Cabinet to be open and transparent in all we do in the District so all Lions can understand the workings of Cabinet and be inspired to want to play a bigger role in our District.

One item from the last Cabinet meeting was a vote on the new wording in the Constitution and By Laws for D40. Many of ye will remember voting on this at last years Convention, so having voted on Lions Clubs being able to choose their own Zone chair, it was found that this statement is contravention of International’s C&BL.s. WE sought advice from the legal department and were told that we would have to remove it from District C&BL.s. That is why we had to vote, all legal obligations for the voting were adhered to and notice of this vote were published as required.

The agenda is filling for our next Cabinet meeting and Mid Winter Convention. The host Club has done a remarkable job of putting this event together and it will be a weekend packed with service and fun, we have been assured. Please try to attend in person if possible. The Cabinet meeting will be shared on Zoom for anybody to log into. Look to the website for continuous  updates.
