A Food Drive to benefit East Mountain Food Pantry was held on Saturday, December 13, at Triangle Market in Cedar Crest. Sandia Mountain Lions Club members collected 1,397 food items and $1,311.36 in cash and checks to help fight food insecurity in the East Mountains. The drive was organized by Pantry Representative Lion Sammie Hutchison and Lion Jani Klatt, assisted by Lions Steve-O Marusich, Caroline Hess, Rena Harris, Joseph Hawkins, Linda Cuenco, PDG Bobby Richardson, PCC Bob Jones, President Sarah Berry, Steve Berry and their sons Matthew and James. as well as potential member Jeff Wilson.

The Club's December meeting/Christmas Party Potluck, scheduled for Dec. 3, was postponed until Friday December 5 because of heavy snow. It was held at the south SR 337 mountain home of the Club's newest member, Lion Rena Harris and her husband Wes with 13 members and one guest attending. With plenty of appetizers, posole, lasagna, salad and desserts surrounded by festive holiday decorations, the only business discussed was the plan for the Dec. 13 food drive.
