Why Prescription Bottles Aren’t Recyclable Curbside—And How You Can Help Give Them New Life as Sunglasses

Ever wonder why curbside recycling programs DON'T accept prescription bottles?
Prescription pill bottles are made from a type of plastic that's typically recyclable, but there's a catch. Most curbside programs sort plastics by size and these bottles are too small. They slip through the sorting machines and end up in the trash. Even if they make it through, many recycling facilities don't accept this type of plastic.
Cocoplum repurposes bottle into sunglasses to give them a new life.

Want to help? Here's how:
Collect your empty pill bottles
Colors accepted: orange, green, blue, red, yellow and purple translucent
#5 plastic
Remove the labels and the lid
Once you save up a minimum of 20 bottles, submit them to Lion Brenda Dunn for donation
Purchase a pair of these sunglasses made from recycled bottles at www.cocoplum.co.com.
Please bring all donations to D40 District Meetings to get them to Lion Brenda Dunn in Las Cruces for submission - OR you can mail your submission.
