After an active and vibrant life, Betty Anne Miller, 94, passed away December 6, 2025, in Albuquerque. She was born in Wisconsin in 1931 and moved to California where she raised two children, William and Sheryl (Sam) Miller, as a single mother.

Betty, who never fulfilled her desire to attain a nursing degree, in 1977 started her own business in the health care industry and eventually worked as a hospital administrator in Mission Hills, CA, and in Albuquerque.

After moving to Tijeras in retirement, she was honored as a “Community Asset” in the Mountain View Telegraph in September, 2008. She was extremely active and passionate about literacy and established the Read Write Literacy Program in Moriarty and was board member and chairperson for financing and fundraising for the NM Coalition for Literacy. She also volunteered for the Torrance County Housing and Urban Development program.

Betty joined the Sandia Mountain Lions Club in 2012 where she participated in club projects until her death. She was an integral part of the New Mexico Lions Diabetes Awareness Program where she served as treasurer and a project coordinator.

She loved to read but was also an avid camper and fisherman. Those who knew Betty will remember her as a positive personality, independent, full of life, and eager to be of service. She will surely be missed,

In care of Moriarty’s Harris Hanlon Funeral Home, her remains will be interred in Sun City, AZ.
