Two new members were inducted by PDG Bobby Richardson at the April 1 meeting of Sandia Mountain Lions Club. Anthony (Tony) Mittas was sponsored by Lion Sammie Hutchison, and Wesley (Wes) Harris was sponsored by his wife, Lion Rena Harris. Both new Lions had come to at least three Club activities before submitting their applications, and are already active participants. Lion Tony is an engineer and business owner and Lion Wes is a retired nurseryman. Lion Rena also had a guest at the meeting, potential member Heather Pink, a Physician’s Assistant from Cedar Crest.
Lion Penn Baker chaired the continuing project of cleaning a mile of old Rt. 66 west of the Zuzax entrance to I 40. On April 11, in two hours, seven Lions and one potential member, Heather Pink, picked up nine bags of trash. Participating Lions included Penn and Dorothee Baker, Rena Harris, Joseph Hawkins, Sammie Hutchison, Tony Mittas, and Phil Tagg. As Lion Penn said, “Team work makes the dream work!”
