                                                                                                                               April 2026

Lions and LEO’s of New Mexico

What a busy month March has been and April is looking very similar at the moment. We had a very good Q3 Cabinet meeting in Moriarty and a successful service project. This project was a bit different, we combined a couple of aspects of Community together by meeting people at the door of a local restaurant and giving them tickets for their drinks. This gave us an opportunity to showcase Lions in action as well as talking to people about Lionism and our mission, marketing, recruiting and service all in one.

We are busy preparing for Convention in Carlsbad and I remind everybody to get your registrations in early so we can have an accurate head count for all events. Did I tell ye all there is a FREE Jacket with your registration, please put your jacket size on your registration form.

DG travels in the District continue with many Clubs being visited. It is a pleasure to share time in all these Clubs and hear of all the wonderful projects being done in the District and to have the opportunity to partake in some of these projects.

At our monthly GAT check in last week we were pleasantly surprised to find that, within our Constitutional Area group of Districts, we ranked 3rd for membership improvement. Thank you to all Club members who are carrying on the mission of renewal and recruiting new members. It is being noted at the highest levels of our Association.

I was very moved to be invited (and able to attend) to join in Global Service Week 4 in Visakhapatnam in India from  Feb 22nd to 28th and to partake in all the service projects there. Our main focus was to screen kids eyes and provide glasses as needed. We were also training the local Lions in the use of eye screening cameras as part of their launching of the KidSight program there. We had a goal of 10,000 kids and surpassed this, our final count was 12,000 kids screened with 2,000 referrals. Other projects included, beach cleanup, painting the outer walls of a school, diabetes testing on adults, food distribution,  A Ball for All and Keep A Girl in School program. It was a great experience to work with Lions from all over the world and to see Lionism in action in so many ways. Some of these events will be featured during the Telethon on June 7th so please tune into that.

Another reminder to those Clubs that are still in arrears with your dues. You will not be able to vote or support a candidate at Convention if there are any monies owing to either LCI or District. Please have your Club treasurer check the statements button on the Portal for a balance from LCI and clear this as soon as possible. The District Treasurer has emailed the District invoices to all Club Treasurers (as found on the Portal). If this information is incorrect, please do not blame our Treasurer. It is every Clubs responsibility to ensure that accurate information is posted on the Portal.

A big Thank You to all D40 Lions and LEO’s for all the services that ye provide in our District each and every day.

DG Frankie
